“Behold I will do a new thing. Now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

What God Can Do

“I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!  So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” v.15-16

Three Steps Toward the Fire

1Recognize the white-hot pursuing love of God.

Recognize His presence “Here I am”

Recognize His pursuit “I stand at the door”

          Recognize His purpose “and knock”

2.     Repent of deception, pride and self-sufficiency.

          The lukewarm are self-deceived.

You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’  But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.”  v.17

“If anyone hears my voice and opens the door.”  v.20

“Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent.”  v.19

3.  Receive the flaming presence of Christ.

“I will come in and eat with him and he with me.”  v.20b

          Receive a new value system.

“I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire.” v.18

Receive from Him forgiveness and righteousness.

“And white clothes to wear so you can cover your shameful nakedness.” v.18

Receive from Him clarity, vision and insight.

“And salve to put on your eyes so you can see.”  v.18
